WELCOME TO BLOG #2
Apparently I post a lot of pictures. Thus far in my trip I have taken over 12GB of photos and that's even taking into account my rigorous sorting and slimming down the number of photos I actually keep. Gosh! Anyway, it turns out my other blog www.jlbeggs.blogspot.com ran out of photo room, so instead of paying for more storage (which is probably what blogspot was hoping I'd do) I thought I'd start a new blog. But essentially it's the same blog. This new address is:
If you're reading this then you've obviously found my new blog address. Thank you for following! I've gotten a lot of positive feedback from friends and I thank everybody who has been following. Means a lot. I will of course keep my other blog up as an archive so feel free to visit it in the event you'd like to read over old posts.
Now, onto the important stuff...
Now, onto the important stuff...
Cirque du Soleil weekend! The 3 highlights of my trip thus far have most definitely been:
a) Mamma Mia in London
b) World Championships in Rotterdam
c) Cirque du Soleil in Amsterdam
Show was amazing. Costumes. Make-up. Music. Performances. Stunts. Incredible. Having a gymnastics background I can appreciate how much hard work goes into each and every show. The performers with Cirque are incredible. Their acts require such focus and dedication, and yet they make all their high flying, death defying stunts look beautiful and effortless.
Adrienne and Laura arrived Friday night and the weekend started off with some painting of the nails...
And macaroons from Paris!
Who's nails were being painted pink you ask? Why that would be Jaewoo! He earned 10 euros to wear this pink nail polish for 24 hours. One thing we didn't mention was that we didn't have nail polish remover, so it's lasted a little longer than 24 hours :) He looks thrilled, doesn't he
Saturday afternoon we headed to the Stedelijk Museum. They don't have their permanent collection at the moment, so we saw some temporary exhibitions. This was at the Stedelijk:
THIS was my favourite. Very simple. Yet creative. People were able to get measured and have their name written on the wall. There's Laura... among the sea of "average heights"
I, as well, made the average range. And because of this, my name is a little buried with tons of other names. If you look extremely close, you might be able to make out the "Jennifer"
This is on our way back to our apartment for dinner. Amsterdam is so beautiful with the canals everywhere. This photos was taken near Dam Square looking down one of the many gorgeous canals.
At CIRQUE DU SOLEIL!! The famous yellow and blue tent :) The show is Canadian you know, and their main training school is based in Montreal.
Our oh-so-comfortable bike ride to church Sunday morning. I was comfy, I don't know if Adrienne would agree though.
Sunday afternoon the rain stopped for long enough to visit Borneo Sporenburg
.
There's my office! LEVS is in the second building from the left, on the 2nd floor (European "2nd" where the ground floor is considered level 0).
Girls dinner! Laura and I went to a nice trendy restaurant called Brix Monday evening before she caught her train back to Paris <3
Food was yummy!
Great weekend. Nice spending it with friends. And Cirque was aaaaawesome.
